This April edition is the 300th Cherry Chatter that we have published! In May 1992, a small group of dedicated locals got together and published the first edition which was all of 2 pages! We had support from a few local businesses and 2 of those businesses have supported us for the 300 editions and nearly 27 years.

The Annual General Meeting of the Cherry Gardens Memorial Hall was held on Tuesday 26th February. The meeting approved a number of changes to the Constitution. The Committee is currently exploring ways of upgrading the appearance of the Hall; hopefully you will notice some positive changes over the coming months.

After this dry spell, there will be many bare areas in paddocks, so when the rains do come, there may be a glut of weeds as there won’t be any competition for them, so that is going to be the first problem. After a good soaking rain, some weeds are easy to pull by hand, others are more difficult.

The Recreation Ground AGM was held recently and congratulations to Andy Adams who was elected as President for the 2019 year. All other positions were filled by the incumbent committee members. Football season for us starts on April 6th at Torrens Valley but before then we will have already played a couple of trial games.

After the opening of The Cherry Gardens Hall in 1956, it was decided to hold regular monthly dances as a fund raiser. The monthly dances continued to attract good crowds. We used several different bands to provide the music, usually 3 piece comprising of piano, saxophone and drums.
