The Great War of 1914 – 1918 saw thirty-nine men enlist from the Cherry Gardens district, with thirteen of them paying the supreme sacrifice. Around December 2018, members of the current Cherry Gardens community discussed the idea of decorating the Cross of Remembrance with handmade poppies, to honour the past and to become part of the future.

Garden Club

Football Club

Our football season started on the first weekend in April. After a few long months of training, recruiting and preparation the juniors and men’s teams finally got on the oval and played footy. In 2019 we will have 8 home games and we would love to see locals come along and watch good quality local footy.

Netball Club

We have had trials for the winter season and teams selected. This year we are fielding 10 junior teams and 11 senior teams with games starting 27th April or 4th May. All junior matches are played on Saturday Mornings, with senior matches played Saturday afternoons.

100 Year Clarendon Bridge Anniversary

On July 17th the Clarendon Bridge will be 100 years old. In 1851 there was no bridge over the Onkaparinga River and when the river was in flood people living on the other side had to wait until the flood waters receded when they could cross by bullock dray. A community event to be held at Riverbend Park on the 21st of July is being planned.
