Football Club

Our football season is now at the halfway mark and we are about to start the second round of games against the rest of the competition. It is a bit of a mixed bag for the club with some teams doing really well but others struggling. That being said as a football club we are very happy with how we are travelling and proud of all our players, teams and support volunteers.

Most crops produced in Australia rely on pollination from bees; however, our bee population is now under threat, mainly because they cannot find enough food in our increasingly cleared landscapes.

The Cherry Gardens Memorial Hall Committee has, as one of its main objectives, the running of a number of functions each year to provide an opportunity for the local community to come together. With winter now here, it may pay to reflect on the 17/18 fire season. Although not solely a winter issue, we are currently preparing some of our members to attend their Breathing Apparatus (BA) training shortly. This is a very physically demanding and intense course.

Minton Farm

It is very clear to me how much the seasons and the weather affect the activity and the behaviour of our wildlife. Within the space of two days we were contacted about the welfare of 7 possums, two Tawny Frogmouths, a Boobook owl and a Barn Owl! It had apparently been a full moon and the wildlife were responding to it!

Football Club

The 2018 season is now well and truly underway with our men’s teams just having finished Round 7 and our women, Round 5. With the rain that we have had in recent weeks the playing surface is much better for the players, and supporters have had to rug up and enjoy the BBQ and canteen food as well as the bar.
