Cricket Club - Under 14’s

CONGRATULATIONS to the Under 14s on a great year and making the finals. Our trophy winners are listed below and so is a wrap up from Coach Scott McKenzie

Another great year of SCIB U14s cricket. We had a total of 14 players with James How, Archie Watson, Riley Allison, Lachlan, Miegal, Hamish Hobbs, Broden McKenzie and Sam Dinning all returning for their second season of U14s. We welcomed Hamish Kennedy to the club and also welcomed Fred Stubbs and Hugo Sutton up from U12s giving us 10 players. Jess Modistach was a welcome addition to the team part way through but then had to drop out due to her being selected for the State Indoor Cricket Squad. Well done Jess! John Dwyer joined the team for the last 3 games due to shifting into the area. Both Jess and John fit in straight away and we look forward to them both being a part of our U16 team next season. Finally, we had Cameron Wildy and Finn Baker fill in for a couple of games from the U12s. They also were a valuable part of the squad and will both move into U14s next season.

It was a disruptive season throughout with rain and heat impacting games. We ended up with 5 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss. Our only loss was to the undefeated Uraidla. We finished 2nd and were set for a home final before the apocalypse.

All of the team bonded well, supported each other and played the game in the right spirit. Many parents have thanked me over the years for coaching their children. I would like to thank the parents for raising such humble and respectful children and the players in general for understanding what’s important within the game of cricket and team sport in general.
