Recreation Ground

It’s been a big year for the Cherry Gardens Ironbank Recreation Ground. We kicked off our fundraising campaign, ‘Dreams to Reality’ in order to pay for much needed upgrades to the club rooms and have made some positive inroads.

Just some background, for many years the community owned facility has struggled financially, with little luck obtaining grants for our plans and the small amount of profit made distributed to the Sporting clubs to ensure their survival.

We’ve received some amazing donations from the Clubs, from the Cherry Chatter & from individual supporters. Also, Di & the girls in the kitchen have been volunteering every Thursday cooking and serving dinners. We’ve raised some great money from this and encourage the community to come grab a meal from 5 till 8pm.

So far, we’ve funded new stainless steel bench tops and splash backs and are half way to being able to install a large enough sink to wash pots in & a dishwasher. Add to the above two super community events held (AFL GF & Christmas Fair), many private hirers and a giant Solar System installed (thanks to a SA Govt Solar Grant) and we’ve had a productive year.

We think there’s some real momentum here and are very excited about what’s to come but we still need your help to survive.

As always, I encourage everyone to visit our website to find out more on the above, follow us on FB for all the latest updates and visit the Rec Ground for a meal & drink. https://cgibrg.wixsite.com/cgibrg

Christmas Fair

At the Christmas Fair this year it was very much focused on the kids with lots of games including Bubble Soccer and a myriad of activity-based toys and games as well as a Jumping Castle and a Water Slide. With the weather being a bit hotter than we had hoped the water activities got a good workout by the kids. Most of the kids (including the older ones) had their face painted and everyone was very excited to welcome Santa who arrived on the Ironbank CFS Truck and all the kids had their opportunity to let Santa know what they were hoping for.

A big thanks to all the volunteers and people who donated on the day and for the community support

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
